Trees of Morni: Genthi
Genthi/ Daar/ Githa (Boehmeria rugulosa/nervosa ) a medium-sized evergreen tree of the Himalayas (occurs at altitudes upto 1500 metres) with long lance-shaped leaves, strongly 3 veined. The tree flowers in August/ September – flowers are small, greenish, borne in spikes.
Bark is dark brown and rough- deeply fissured.
Timber is moderately hard and dark red. The juice of the bark is used to treat cuts. Paste of the bark is applied on bone fractures.
