Birds of Morni: Greater Yellownape
Greater Yellownape (Picus flavinucha) a common large woodpecker of South Asia (about a foot in length) with green neck, breast and upper parts apart from a prominent yellow tufted nape. The abdomen is whitish and the stiff tail and vent are dark coloured. It has a straight pointed beak with a long tongue to capture insects. It nests in tree holes.
